Company & Project Context
McKesson is a global healthcare leader, partnering with biopharma firms, care providers, pharmacies, manufacturers, and governments to make quality care more accessible and affordable. Since May 2023, I’ve focused primarily on the B2B E-commerce initiatives—optimizing generic-drug campaigns—while also supporting internal finance tooling.
Key work-streams include:
• BuySmarter Product Recommendation
• Omits Communication & Backorder Watch List
• Single & Multi-Item Searches for Generic Campaigns
• MT Finance Stakeholder Interviews & Journey Mapping

My Role & Responsibilities
• End-to-End Design: Co-led discovery, ideation, prototyping, and post-launch refinement for BuySmarter features
• User Research: Shared-conduction of 15+ stakeholder interviews across sales, operations, and finance teams; facilitated workshops to align on pain points
• UX Advocacy: Shaped and evangelized UX processes and standards; contributed to McKesson’s shared design system
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Worked side-by-side with developers, business analysts, product owners, and compliance teams to ensure feasibility and regulatory alignment

Project Context
Most of my work centered on improving generic drug campaigns through quick wins, usability enhancements, and data-driven journey improvements. Key areas included product recommendations, backorder and omit communications, generic campaign flows, and UI consistency.
Also co-led 15+ stakeholder interviews for MT Finance, mapping budgeting processes and delivering insights to improve cross-department understanding.
Process & Activities
• Discovery & Alignment – Facilitated stakeholder workshops to map workflows and identify usability gaps; benchmarked competitor platforms for best-practice patterns.
• Research & Journey Mapping – Synthesized interviews with diverse user groups, clarifying needs and documenting end-to-end journeys with key decision points.
• Design & Validation – Created wireframes and high-fidelity mockups in Figma, refined visual hierarchy, and ran usability tests to improve clarity and reduce cognitive load.
• Handoff & Integration – Added new components to the design system and documented workflows, research, and evaluations for ongoing reference.

Deliverables & Impact
• Product Recommendation — task-success rate for identifying suitable generics and reduction in time-to-complete the conversion per time-tracking logs
• Omits & Backorder Watch List — Introduced real-time “Backorder Watch” dashboard, leading to drop emergency order escalations and the "Omit Reason” feature clarified why items were excluded—improving user trust and reducing support tickets.
• MT Finance Collaboration — Co-mapped internal budgeting journeys across 4 departments, uncovering 10 process that could be improved; proposed streamlined workflows that saved an estimated 15 hours/week in coordination overhead.
• Design System Evolution — Added 3 reusable components and documented 5 usage patterns, accelerating subsequent feature mock-ups.
Key Learnings
• Data-Driven Clarity — Embedding concise, data-rich recommendation cards helps users make faster, more confident decisions in regulated contexts.
• Trust Through Transparency — Showing “why” an item was omitted or back-ordered boosts user confidence and reduces follow-up questions.
• Cross-Discipline Synergy — Deep collaboration with finance and compliance teams uncovers process gaps that pure UX research might miss.
• Scaling UX in Large Organizations — Contributing to a shared design system ensures consistency across multiple product lines and teams, amplifying design impact.
This experience deepened my ability to deliver user-centered solutions within complex, regulated environments.
It strengthened my collaboration skills across large teams and helped me turn research into meaningful, actionable design strategies.
